Educational Preschool Care

We have taken the best of all types of child care available and put them into one complete package. A parent can leave with the confidence that their child/ren are in a safe and caring environment. Our job is to focus on each child’s social, physical and emotional development. A child’s self-esteem, independence, and ability to learn need to be taught through positive experiences in and out of the classroom. Part of our job is to help you prepare your child for their upcoming years. If we work together, this can be obtained. It is Toddler Town’s philosophy that children mature to reach their growth potential when they are provided with a stimulating, inviting and loving environment. Your child will be involved in activities that will enrich their social, emotional, and physical growth every day. Learning experiences in art, music, dramatic play, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and basic readiness for kindergarten will be provided.

The preschool program is designed to help promote the physical, intellectual, and social development of each child in our program in a manner that is consistent with the child’s cultural background as well. Throughout the day, we have collaborative activities that coincide with the materials and equipment for learning and growth to occur.

The status of your child’s growth is documented throughout the year and kept in each child’s file. The parents will receive a copy of this record along with the opportunity to have a conference with your child’s teacher.

Quiet activities such as math, art, and language and active activities such as dramatic play, large muscle, and music are also part of your child’s day. Some activities are child initiated and others are teacher directed.

We provide a good balance of active, quiet, group, and structured activities so your child will be happy and content while away from home.

This written preschool program plan will be developed and evaluated annually by a qualified teacher. This program plan is available for parents to review at any time.

Policies and Procedures for Preschoolers
(3-5 Years Old)

  • Immunization and Health Care Summary — The State Of Minnesota requires that all children enrolled in a childcare setting have current immunization records and health care summaries. Health care summaries need to be completed by the child’s primary care physician; they also need to be renewed when children move from toddlers to preschool
  • Take-Home Notes — Once the children move up into the preschool program, teachers will no longer fill out daily notes for parents. We will communicate verbally at pickup and drop-off times
  • Labels — Please label all of your child’s belongings with their first and last name. Labeling belongings helps cut down on lost or mistaken items in the cubby area
  • Nap Time — All children are required to rest on their cot for at least 30 minutes. If a child does not fall asleep within this time, we do provide them with quiet activities to do on their cot
  • Parent Board — We enjoy when parents check the parent boards. This is our informational highway. We tend to post valuable information on the board
  • Outside Play — The children also get the opportunity to get outside twice a day, weather permitting
  • Winter and Summer Apparel — In the winter, parents are responsible for supplying their children with boots, snow pants, coat, mittens, and a hat. If possible, it is always helpful to have two pairs of mittens on hand, as we do go out in both the morning and the afternoon and they sometimes get wet. In the summer, we discourage the use of flip flop sandals as footwear. If your children enjoy wearing flip flops, please bring alternative footwear for outside play
  • Potty Training Philosophy — We do understand that the potty training process is a very important milestone for both the parent and the child. We believe that a child must be physically, mentally, and emotionally ready for the process to begin. We want all potty training experiences to be as positive as possible. Toddler Town believes the process of potty training is a team effort. This is why we work with parents to create a plan that develops as much consistency between home and preschool
